Distinctive Style

Ethan’s been back in the studio, this time with an unusual arrangement of an operatic classic. This legendary aria Nessun dorma, which he sings softly, offers a pleasantly different presentation. Harmonica in hand, he adds occasional fills of complex arpeggios that are truly impressive. A pleasure to work with, he’s always very well prepared and never requires more than three takes.

Podcast Expertise

Retired enforcement officer and senior magisterial judge John R Bailey hosts original online audio programs that are growing in popularity. Combining the expertise of guest speakers with his own broad experience, he offers informative podcasts to increase the general public’s awareness of various aspects of the law.

Foe example, while recording an interview in the studio recently, I learned about the hazards and risks of trying to save money by buying replacement auto parts from someone other than the shop that will actually install them on your car. Many shops won’t do that kind of work – and for good reason.

Did you know that narrators and voice actors can earn up to $400 per hour for just standing in front of a microphone and reading a script?

You can learn how – right here in the studio. Rates begin at $25 per half-hour session. Inquire now.

On the Workbench

Another audiocassette has been sent here for repair, this time from Maui. On completing the repair, I’ll convert the content to CD and return both CD and tape to the client – with the music completing a round trip of more than 9,000 miles. *

Although original materials are best delivered in person, for out of state clients, the U.S. Postal Service has proven quite dependable. Send only by Certified U.S. Mail. It’s safer. So far, we’ve successfully served clients in Arizona, California, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia and Hawaii.

Just In

The box I received contained more than two-dozen audiocassettes, some from forty years ago. The music is an enjoyable mix of originals and covers by a husband and wife team of singers and songwriters. I’d never heard her before except on stage in duet with her husband. In her solos on tape, her voice was so warm and rich that I was nearly moved to tears.

Now, I’m tasked with converting the tapes to both disk and mp3 files.

Oh, this’ll be fun!

Pretty Pictures
Across the Sea

Nothing is as easy as we’d like it to be. I recently received a large number of digital images – snapshots of a European vacation. The pictures were gorgeous, with good composition, sharp focus and brilliant colors.

Printed as they were, they would be too large for the client’s album. So, each one had to be re-sized. Then, after printing on glossy photo stock, they were all trimmed and inserted into the clear plastic album pages. The result was a tangible, hold-in-your-hands record of a memorable time in sunny Italy. I wish I’d been there!

Cosmetic Photography

In reviewing an old photograph taken during her time in the military, the client decided that the picture showed too many wrinkles. Okay, into the digital operating room we go.

After scanning the photo at high-resolution – 1200 dpi – the original scan was kept separate and not touched. The “surgery” was performed on an exact clone with pleasing results.

Although the original had been a black and white, it had developed a slight sepia tone over the last fifty years and was scanned in color mode to preserve that.

Reviews

“I am almost halfway through Dave and Dani. This chick on the run who blew off the flower shop is going to be trouble for them both, I can sense it! Can’t wait ’til I’m done, hopefully this week. Wonderfully written!!”
